Project Overview

The Holo-Selfiee experience was created for PwC as an innovative way to boost employee engagement during events across multiple cities. The goal was to let users record short videos that would be transformed into interactive holograms, viewable via a mobile-friendly interface. The product needed to be intuitive, memorable, and scalable.

My Role

As the product designer, I led the design of the user journey across touchpoints—photobooth interaction, mobile interface, and hologram viewing experience. I worked closely with developers, 3D/video experts, and stakeholders to ensure smooth execution from concept to launch.

Goals

  • Create a seamless and engaging flow for users to record their holographic video.
    • Ensure the experience is consistent across different physical event locations.
      • Make the hologram viewable anytime via a mobile-friendly solution.

        Key Challenges

        • User Guidance in Physical Space: The photobooth setup had to guide users clearly without live assistance.
          • Real-Time Output: Holograms needed to be generated and delivered quickly.
            • Scalable UX: The interface had to adapt to different devices and contexts with minimal learning curve.

              Design Solutions

              1. Photobooth Flow

              • Designed a minimal, guided interface for the iPad used in the recording booth.
                • Integrated visual cues and a progress bar to reduce confusion during the 3-step capture process.

                  2. Personalized Hologram Delivery

                  • Each recording was processed and linked to a unique access code.
                    • Users received their access link via SMS, ensuring privacy and simplicity.

                      3. Mobile Web App

                      • Created a responsive web interface where users could input their unique code and view their hologram.
                        • Used subtle motion and gradient overlays to add a futuristic, on-brand feel.

                          4. Live Event Experience

                          • Developed UI for a “Holo Stage” where users could see their holograms projected in near real-time during the event, enhancing the immersive effect.

                            Tools & Tech

                            • Design Tools: Figma, Illustrator
                              • Tech Stack: HTML, CSS, Laravel, Socket.io
                                • Add-ons: Custom video rendering pipeline with AI/ML enhancements

                                  Outcome

                                  • Hundreds of employees across PwC offices in Gurugram, Bengaluru, and Mumbai engaged with the experience.
                                    • Positive feedback on ease of use and novelty factor.
                                      • Successfully scaled across multiple events without UX drop-off.

                                        Learnings

This project reinforced the importance of designing for real-world, physical-digital hybrid interactions. Attention to timing, spatial awareness, and feedback cues made all the difference in user satisfaction.
